Alpha Phi: an OSU Tradition

On March 30, 1912, Rho Chapter was installed. It had already existed for three
years in the hearts of the girls calling themselves Lambda Alpha, setting for themselves those standards which they thought would be pleasing to Alpha Phi.
The installation took place in Rho’s own chapter house, with Jessie Thompson Balderston, (Zeta) President of the Fraternity, and Lucile Stowe Learmonth (Theta), representing the General Board. They were assisted by Abigail Shay (Ratliff)
(Theta), Edith Quayle (Wise) (Zeta), and several Columbus alumnae. Twenty-seven girls, loyal, enthusiastic, dignified, were received into the Fraternity. The charter members were:

Katherine Allen (Cowgill), ‘12
Martha Allen (Steffan), ‘15
Anne Anderson (Adams) ‘ 12
Mabel Barr (Metcalf), ‘14
Amy Crane (Renkert), ‘15
Doris Dana (Harsh), ‘12
Marguerite Davidson (Bryant), ‘12
Jessie Emerson (Brown), ‘12
Ethel Gilkey (Hatfield), ‘12
Ruth Guenther (Bernbaum), ‘14
Lillian Kern (Griesinger), ‘12
